What is Unlock?

Unlock was developed by The Fashion Pact and their Climate Delivery Partner 2050, and is now housed with the non-profit Future Earth Lab.  Our non profit status means that we can leverage support from a range of sources, and we can prioritise impact and sector transformation over profit.

The Unlock Programme brings deep technical experience and knowledge of a range of impact areas, bringing together the original technical team that developed the programme with new staff members with experience in programme development, credible climate claims, and innovative finance solutions. We navigate the complex and changing space of impact quantification, validation and reporting on behalf of member brands, farmers and implementing partners, so that they don't have to.

The Journey of Unlock

2022

THE CONCEPT IS DEVELOPED

The Fashion Pact and 2050 scope a range of potential joint actions for Fashion Pact members and the wider industry on climate and raw materials. Extensive consultations are completed with Fashion Pact members and industry experts, supported by detailed technical analysis from 2050. Unlock emerges from this process as the concept most likely to deliver impact reduction at scale through collective action, in a 'white space' not currently being addressed by the Industry.

2023

THE PILOT PHASE IS IMPLEMENTED

The pilot phase of Unlock is developed and rolled out, in partnership with a range of implementing partners. The Unlock programme structure, methodology and claims system is created, farmer data is checked, and climate impacts are calculated. 25 brands join the programme, and many provide philanthropic support to the pilot phase.
